As definitions of beauty and wellness have evolved, fragrance has risen as a top category for consumers looking to indulge in a self-care moment, according to “Fragrance for All,” the latest report by Brandshare, an Advantage Solutions agency.

In the second quarter of 2022, the category saw $1.5 billion in sales, a 13% increase over the same period in 2021, the report noted. “For many, wearing fragrance has become a personalized experience, no longer kept to gender norms,” noted Brandshare CEO Alan Verdun. “Wearers look for fragrances that champion their individuality and expression, while also keeping the environment top of mind.”

“Fragrance for All” delves into the rise of personalization in the fragrance industry and other consumer trends and includes case studies revealing the effect of e-commerce sampling on fragrance sales.
