From the continued fascination with all things pumpkin spice to “Peaky Blinders” Halloween costumes and Thanksgiving charcuterie boards, AMP Agency covers it all in the “Top Trending Topics for Fall 2022” report.

The report has insights on 40 topics across eight different categories including holidays, home decor and food and drink. The data is pulled from Google’s Keyword Planner (U.S. only) and is paired with AMP Agency’s analysis of why these topics will increase in popularity this autumn.

“Using the tools available to us, we were able to not only find products, events and activities relevant to this time of year but also predict the ones that will be very popular this year,” said SEO Supervisor Kevin Davis of AMP Agency. “Looking back at query data for the past four years, you can see increases in volume that we feel is a good indicator of interest in the future. I am excited to share our findings in this report.”

Among the findings in this in-depth report:

  • Pumpkin spice. The flavor trend of fall still has a lot of life left in it. From coffee drinks to beer to desserts, Pumpkin Spice is quite popular and it appears that 2022 will be a bigger year for this topic’s search interest. This fall, AMP predicts there will be a 20% increase in queries for this flavor.
  • Bento box lunch boxes. The popularity of the Japanese single-portion meal has grown over the last five years and now this style of lunch box is ready to be a top choice this fall. As back-to-school research started to heat up in July 2022, the increase in search volume for “bento box lunch box” was up 22% year over year.
  • “Peaky Blinders” Halloween costumes. Since its Netflix debut in 2013, people have gravitated towards “Peaky Blinders” traditional post-WWI outfits and their signature newsboy caps as Halloween costumes. Just last year, search volumes for this costume reached nearly 75,000 in October ― that’s a 63% increase compared to the previous Halloween season. For this Halloween, AMP Agency predicts even greater popularity given the series’ final season was released this past summer.
  • Thanksgiving charcuterie boards. Last year, search queries for this seasonal treat tripled in volume compared to every season before it. Since January 2022, there has been a 115% increase in search volume compared to the same time in 2021. This season, be sure to expect this on-theme appetizer at your Thanksgiving celebration.
