Halloween will look different this year, but half of revelers plan to decorate for the holiday and nearly four in 10 parents will buy children’s costumes, according to a survey of more than 900 U.S. adults by SMART, Advantage Sales’ consumer goods insights team.

More than one-third of those surveyed plan to put Halloween candy out for trick-or-treaters and carve pumpkins. Nearly two-thirds of candy buyers plan to make their purchases in October and more than half plan to spend the same amount on candy this year as they did last year.

Three in 10 survey respondents plan to make Halloween-themed baked goods, though half say they’ll enjoy them only at home. Their top creative inspirations? Social media, You Tube and recipes from family and friends.
